Training Manager
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Visualize, coordinate, develop, and deliver (as needed) both operator and technical product training programs for customers and internal personnel using Instructional System Design (ISD) methodologies and proven adult learning principles. Work with Product Managers, Project teams, Applications personnel, and specialist consultants to develop comprehensive, scenario-based training packages for new products. Write course content, prepare training materials, and develop training aids. Continuously monitor lesson plans and associated documents for conformity with new training requirements and to keep technical content correct and up to date. Serve as subject matter expert who is fully knowledgeable on training methodologies and able to design customized training.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Create, review, and edit training materials applying ISD principles, and recommend program improvements on a continuous basis.
• Develop scenario-based training offerings that are aligned with specific customer requirements.
• Modify and revise lessons, modules or classes in accordance with unique customer needs.
• Produce and monitor training documentation to keep consistency with current product configurations and Smiths Detection branding guidelines.
• Develop training packages for on-site and remote delivery using a variety of training media.
• Work closely with Product Managers, Project teams, and Applications personnel, and specialist consultants to develop comprehensive training packages for new products
• Work closely with the Sales teams to assist in customer satisfaction requirements.
• Travel to visit customers as necessary to audit course delivery or discuss training requirements.
• Provide on-site training for customers and Train the Trainer (T3) programs for contractors as needed.
• Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
• Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Training: Bachelors Degree in a technical, educational, or training field, or relevant industry experience.
Experience: 5+ years experience in a training development and customer service/support environment involving technical content. Proficiency in applying Instructional System Design (ISD) methodologies (ADDIE model) to training development. Experience with a variety of training media and curriculum design, including Web or Computer Based Training applications, either hosted or stand alone. Experience with Learning Management Systems is desired.
Knowledge/Skills: Advanced PC skills, including MS Office and at least one graphical design platform. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to create novel, effective training materials for customers and trainers. Ability to organize and structure content for effective communication and presentation. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and course materials using proper sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Senior Management, customers and the general public.

• Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Individual’s primary workstation is located in the office area, where telephone conversation can occur without background noise or interruptions. Secondary work will occur at customer sites where environment will vary. The approximate work time breakdown will be:
• Smiths-Danbury office = 90%
• Travel = 10 %
